Jan van de Beek
IMES fellow
Jan van de Beek (1968) works for the Eurosphere project. Eurosphere is an European research project about ethnic and national diversity in a European context. The University of Amsterdam is partner in the consortium under leadership of Veit Bader (for more info see http://eurosphere.uib.no).
Jan van de Beek studied mathematics at Utrecht University. He graduated in 1997 on the development of the infinite series concept in seventeenth century British mathematics. In 2002 he received his MA in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam (with distinction). His thesis dealt with public debate and government policy with regard to asylum seekers. Besides his work for Eurosphere, he is currently finishing his PhD research (at the ASSR) about the production of scientific knowledge regarding the economic effects of immigration during the period 1960-2005.
